The first graduating class of the newly established Saint Jeanne de Lestonnac High School in Temecula, California began the countdown to graduation with a 3 ½ day retreat. The students were helped to reflect on various spiritual and life skills that will help them as they move on to university or the work force. Some of the topics were: the purpose of a retreat, “Life-Graph” – noting the highs and lows in their lives up to the present moment, God’s Friendship-how to open oneself to it, Faith in Action/Being Christian, leadership as a faith-filled person, and several other topics. Of special significance was the testimony by a former student of Saint Jeanne Junior High, now a college student. She spoke realistically about the challenges of growing in one’s faith and the experience of God as a young adult. The time dedicated to large and small group sharing was also very fruitful. At one point, the students read letters written to them by their parents, family members and friends. This was very affirming to them. Meanwhile, their parents gathered in a different location to pray for them. Our students will complete their high school knowing that the Company of Mary has given the best possible academic, emotional and spiritual formation.
