On the occasion of the celebration of International Women's Day, Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, executive director of UN Women, stated:

"What kind of world is this that condemns half of its population to a condition of second-class citizens in the best of circumstances and to absolute slavery in the worst of them?... Eventually women gain equality. The only question is why should we wait? "

In this bulletin we wish to echo these issues with which we are familiar. Every day we view images that place these situations before our eyes and many of us have personal knowledge of girls and women who suffer violence, exploitation, who are "used" as objects or spoils of war, who live in fear...

Our commitment is to an educational service that helps promote the dignity of persons and educate people to join forces and efforts to bring about changes in mentality, interpersonal and social relationships based on equality and create a true spirit of humanity.

In this time of Lent and Easter, looking at Jesus, looking at how he acted and interacted with women and with the established order, can help us find the strength and the light we need to continue in this endeavor.
